5th IIBA November 2015, Florida – Workshop SEM 101

Course Title: Structural Equation Model 101: An Applied Approach with SmartPLS.

Course Description: This course will introduce the use of Partial Least Squares method of Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). It will help postgraduate students/new researchers on how to do basic analysis using the SmartPLS software and how to present them professionally. The course will use practical hands on approach with real research data sets with research questions that can be answered using the data available.

Course Objectives: At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand the difference between two main types of SEM i.e., (i) Covariance based SEM and (ii) Partial Least Squares based SEM.

  • Understand the conditions where to use PLS base SEM and basic conceptions about it.

  • Apply PLS based SEM to analyse data related to thesis and research papers.

Requirements: For all participants, some knowledge of statistics, linear regression, and the characteristics of normal random variables and probability distributions will be helpful. Please bring a laptop with you to the workshop. You will be given instruction on how to download the PLS software for free.
